PUBLIC SCULPTURE?
Performative lecture and visual archive
QUAM, Barcelona 2004

I was invited to hold the opening annual conferences of QUAM 2004 which was dedicated to discuss public sculpture. I was more interested in the subject concerning public space like a platform for the intervention inside the institutionalized discourses more than the objects-sculptures. Therefore, I decided to turn my discourse into a public intervention and to try discovered the different interests around them. The aim interesest was to reveal these questions that I am constantly confronted with being an artist who pretends to act in a public environment. The questions were: Who is speaking? Which had to define my interests and intentions? Where is my position? Which analysed the conditions of the charge given by the institution(Quam)? Why do I speak? Which questioned the function I was supposed to have in my actuation? And finally: What am I talking about? Why I decided to talk about the public function of the artist?
While a videobeamer projected the following photographs of public sculptures.
