PROTOTYPE
A DISSECTION OF THE IDEA OF PROGRESS
Prototype has as main objective the dissection of the concept of progress. Prototype is a solid body, a penetrable space and a recipient of incidents that take place in different time layers. Prototype is a
cubicspace, it consists of three different spaces, one inside the other. The progress is dissected like acubiconion. The working schema is based on a personal interpretation of the text of Jürgen Habermas Science and technology as “ideology” according to the rationalisation systems he presents in there.
PROTO-TIME: Iconologic Archive
The white zone of the "hypercube* is an archive -subjective and not exhaustive- of the imaginarium which surrounds the idea of time -and progress- in the West. In sociology and anthropology, time discipline is the general name given to social and economic rules, conventions, customs, and expectations governing the measurement of time, the social currency and awareness of time measurements, and people's expectations concerning the observance of these customs by others.
PROTO-SPACE: Control Room
The
blue zone is about science as an "ideology", which, according
to J. Habermas, is
formed as a
discipline to legitimate the systems of power, for fixing rationality
and for limiting the idea of liberty.
Control Room is an
operations centre where a facility or service can be observed, monitored
and controlled. The massification of technical facilities is the medium
to introduce the technical rationalization into everyday life.
PROTO-HUMAN: Monkey-Woman
The pink zone is the heart of the progress, without it, it wouldn’t be possible to maintain the idea of the future. At the same time its extreme vitality endangers the system of order and control. Through the repressive control of the cohabitation and the rationalization of the body is possible the capitalist civilization. The heart of the cube is an entity called the "Monkey-Woman" which can not be seen but only be heard its predictions about the future.
